What are your fees?
I charge $125 for a 60 minute session. I also offer a sliding scale for people who may struggle to pay my full fee.
I offer a free phone consultation or an email consultation in order for you to decide if I am a good fit for you!
Do you take insurance?
I am an in-network provider for United Health Care and Optum, as well as a provider for Jefferson County Victim’s Compensation. I am considered an out-of-network provider for any other insurance company. I can offer you a superbill in order for you to seek reimbursement on your own; and I have many clients who pay for my services through their health-savings account or flexible spending account. Prior to our first appointment you can contact your insurance provider to make sure that my services are covered, and to find out what your out-of-pocket expenses may be, as it varies from plan to plan.
Insurance companies often limit the number of sessions I can provide, types of interventions they cover, and who I can see. In order for insurance to cover therapy, the client must have an official mental health disorder and see it impact their life on a daily basis. Many people who benefit from therapy do not have a diagnosable mental health disorder; in fact, it’s often the best plan of action to seek therapy before a problem reaches that point!
What will the therapy process look like?
The most important piece of effective therapy is the quality of the relationship between the therapist and the client. So, from the moment you come into my office, my goal is to make you feel entirely comfortable sharing yourself and your story, so that you feel deeply understood and hopeful about the future. At your first session, I will get a clear picture of your history and your goals and we’ll begin to develop a treatment plan. So often current day struggles are linked to experiences in the past, so I will work both to understand the possible root cause of any suffering, as well as what your hopes for the future are.
After that initial intake, we delve into the work of helping you feel better! This can look like a structured EMDR treatment plan where you bring distressing memories or triggers and we work through them systematically. Or, it can look like spending time in session talking authentically about your struggles, hopes, and fears, and working together to bring self-compassion and resolution to those challenges. My treatment is generally eclectic- often drawing on EMDR to help strengthen your adaptive patterns, and break down less adaptive patterns, supportive talk therapy in order to help you feel seen, and coaching in mindfulness skills you can practice between sessions.
How long will it take?
At that first session we will determine how often you will be coming to therapy depending on the reasons for seeking counseling, and what works for your lifestyle. For most clients I recommend at least 4 weekly sessions in a row to effectively build rapport and momentum for healing, and then we may continue with weekly sessions or move to twice a month or so depending on my continuing assessments and how you are feeling.
The therapy process is incredibly varied. Some clients find that they feel better only after a couple of sessions; others choose to continue to come occasionally for years because they appreciate the self-knowledge and support that counseling brings. The average length of treatment for most of my clients is around 6 months- a year.
Coming weekly in the beginning, following through on suggested practices at home, and an openness to the therapy process can make therapy more effective more quickly.
CAN I BRING MY CHILD TO A POSTPARTUM THERAPY APPOINTMENT?
Of course! For many parents it would not be possible to leave your baby for an hour-long appointment. Plus, it can be helpful to have the baby in session. The office is set up so that you may feed your baby in any way you wish. For my clients with older children who are able to be left alone for a period of time I have a private playroom that they can spend time in while we do our work together.
Where are you located?
My office is in Conifer off of Pleasant Park Road at 26697 Pleasant Park Rd, Building B, Suite 240. After taking the Pleasant Park Road Exit off of Hwy 285, you will head up (south) Pleasant Park Road and turn left at the sign for Conifer Square. From there, take your first right and Building B is on the left. My office in the Relationship Center of Conifer is on the second floor, an immediate right at the top of the stairs. I am easily accessible for clients from Evergreen, Conifer, Bailey, Pine, and about a 20-30 minute drive from Littleton, Morrison, Lakewood, Golden, and the southwest-Denver metro area.
Do You Offer Telehealth?
Yes! This is the one thing I have taken from the COVID19 pandemic with joy. I can see any client in Colorado using a secure web-based telehealth platform. I use doxyme, which does not require an additional app and merely opens up from your browser. All forms of therapy, including EMDR, can be effective online, and this option is so helpful for someone with a busy schedule or who doesn’t want to drive to the office. All you need is a working computer, decent internet connection, and a private space.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical
items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
